Made-to-Order
Worth the wait.
We are dedicated to making beautiful, handcrafted furniture and soft furnishings accessible to those who share our passion for quality and design.
In today's world of mass production, made-to-order soft furnishings stand out as a beacon of sustainability and quality. By choosing this option, you're making a conscious decision to support a more environmentally friendly approach to interior design.
Waste Reduction
One of the primary benefits of made-to-order soft furnishings is the significant waste reduction. Unlike mass-produced items that often lead to excess inventory, made-to-order pieces are created only when customers request them. This means no unused stock languishing in warehouses or ending up in landfills. It's a simple yet effective way to minimize your environmental footprint while furnishing your home.
Sustainability & Quality
Quality is another compelling reason to opt for made-to-order. Skilled artisans pour their expertise into each piece, ensuring attention to detail that's often lacking in mass-produced items. This commitment to craftsmanship results in furnishings that not only look beautiful but are also built to last. By investing in quality pieces, you're likely to keep and cherish them for longer, reducing the need for frequent replacements and further minimizing waste.
Personalization
Personalization is a key advantage of made-to-order soft furnishings. You have the opportunity to select fabrics, colors, and designs that perfectly match your taste and complement your existing decor. This level of customization creates a deeper connection between you and your home, resulting in spaces that truly reflect your personality and style.
Supports Artisans
Finally, choosing made-to-order soft furnishings often means supporting local artisans and traditional craft techniques—helping preserve valuable skills and contributing to local economies. It's a way of investing in communities and ensuring that time-honored craftsmanship continues to thrive in our modern world.
By embracing made-to-order soft furnishings, you're not just decorating your home; you're making a statement about your values. It's a choice that combines aesthetics with ethics, allowing you to create beautiful living spaces while supporting sustainability, quality craftsmanship, and local artisans.
Fabric
Choice Matters.
Indoor, Performance, or Outdoor
Choosing the right fabric for indoor, performance, or outdoor use is crucial for ensuring longevity, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of your soft furnishings & upholstery. Indoor fabrics need to balance comfort and durability, while performance fabrics must withstand frequent use and cleaning. Outdoor fabrics face the toughest challenges, needing to resist UV rays, moisture, and mildew. The correct fabric choice can significantly extend the life of your furnishings, maintain their appearance, and provide the appropriate level of comfort for their intended use.
For instance, a fabric that's perfect for an indoor sofa might quickly deteriorate if used on outdoor cushions. Similarly, a highly durable performance fabric might feel too stiff for relaxed indoor use. By selecting fabrics specifically designed for their intended environment and use, you ensure that your soft furnishings not only look beautiful but also stand up to the demands placed upon them, providing lasting value and enjoyment.

Rattan
A time-consuming process for a time-honored craft.
We all love the natural, laid-back chic of rattan furniture but the production of rattan (or wicker furniture) is a time-consuming process for various reasons. At its core, it's a craft that requires skilled artisans who have spent years honing their techniques. The weaving itself is intricate and labor-intensive, with each strand carefully placed and tightened to create the desired pattern and ensure structural integrity.
Before the weaving can even begin, there's significant preparation involved. Rattan needs to be harvested, cleaned, and often soaked to make it pliable enough for weaving. Many rattan and wicker pieces feature complex designs that require careful planning and execution, adding to the time investment.
After the weaving is complete, the furniture needs time to dry and set properly. Rushing this process can lead to warping or loosening of the weave. The final steps, such as sanding, painting, or varnishing, are crucial for the quality and longevity of the piece but also add to the production time.
Throughout the entire process, quality control checks are performed to ensure each piece meets the required standards. This meticulous approach results in durable, high-quality furniture that can last for generations when properly cared for. The time investment is reflected in the unique character and craftsmanship of each item, making rattan and wicker furniture prized possessions in many homes.
Rattan and wicker are often used interchangeably, but they actually refer to different aspects of furniture making. Rattan is a specific material - a type of palm that grows in the tropical regions of Africa, Asia, and Australasia. It's known for its strong, flexible, and durable nature, making it an excellent choice for furniture.
Wicker, on the other hand, is not a material but a weaving technique that can be applied to various materials, including rattan. When rattan is used in the wicker weaving process, it creates what's commonly known as "rattan wicker" furniture. This combination results in pieces that are sturdy, lightweight, and visually appealing, with the natural texture of rattan enhanced by the intricate wicker weave. Rattan wicker furniture is popular for both indoor and outdoor use, thanks to its durability and timeless aesthetic.
Caned furniture is woven from rattan. The outer skin of the rattan stem is peeled off in long strips and used for caning. So while all cane comes from rattan, not all rattan is used as cane.
Our rattan furniture suppliers are sourced with a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. We partner exclusively with suppliers who use renewable harvesting practices to protect rattan forests. We support eco-friendly practices that are helping preserve natural resources for future generations.
