retail manager

Josephine Home is searching for a Retail Manager to oversee our retail shop and in-store services. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, highly organized creative individual to join our Los Angeles-based team. The ideal candidate for this role operates with a people-first mindset and creates a welcoming environment for all clients. This role is perfect for someone with excellent communication & time management skills who is multi-hyphenate with interests in interior design and retail.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage day-to-day operations at store level, helping define, evaluate, and update store protocols and procedures.

• Inventory management 

• Ensure smooth coordination of daily retail tasks.

• General office duties including organization, and spreadsheet skills.

• Deliver amazing service and build sales by assisting each customer based on their needs.

• Assisting customers with style, home décor, and accessories purchases.

• When needed, resolve customer concerns with compassion and in a timely manner, partnering with others as necessary to provide an unmatched customer experience.

• Fulfilling online orders correctly and efficiently.

• Multi-tasking, jumping into any activity as needed to support the business.

• Sharing feedback, ideas, and insights with management.

• Assist with Special Projects as needed, including marketing and social media tasks.

• Assist with design material management and organization, including fabric & material samples.

 

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES

• Knowledgeable, and/or interested in interior design, home decorating, and fine home goods.

• 2 years of retail management experience, preferably in home decor or interiors. 

• Strong management and customer service skills

• Ability to adapt to different customers and clientele.

• Be available to work Saturdays and have a flexible schedule per business needs. 

• A people-first leader and a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment. 

• Strong styling and merchandising skills with an eye for detail. 

• Strong internal and external communication skills, both verbal and written. 

• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot. 

• Knowledge of Google Drive and Shopify POS preferred. Knowledge of Thrive, Asana, and Klaviyo is a plus! 

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (car ownership).

• Knowledge of social media management tools like Later and Canva is a plus.

• Prior experience and/or interest in interior design is a plus.

• Ability to lift and mobilize large items, up to 40 lbs.

Sherman Oaks, CA
$24 Hourly, Part-Time, reports to Retail Manager.
Approximately 15 - 20 hours per week

Must be available Thurs - Sat 7:45 - 11:15 / Sun 7:45 - 3:15

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE PREFERENCES

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Have a valid driver’s license

• Communicate effectively and confidently.

• Process information and operate store systems accurately.

• Are available weekends and holidays on which retail stores are traditionally open.

• Are reliable and responsible.

• Assist in processing and replenishing and keeping the store looking great.

• Must bend, reach, stretch for product, lift, carry, and move at least 40 pounds | 18 kilos.
